  • Divine Liturgy on the 25th Sunday after Pentecost, celebrated in the Metropolitan Cathedral

With the blessing of His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and all Moldova, His Grace Filaret, Bishop of Căpriana, officiated the Holy and Divine Liturgy on the 25th Sunday after Pentecost in the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Lord in Chisinau.

The Gospel passage of the day brought before the faithful the Parable of the Rich Man whose land yielded plentifully (Luke 12:16–21). In this parable, the Saviour speaks about a wealthy man who, having an exceedingly abundant harvest, thinks only of himself and of increasing his possessions, deciding to enlarge his barns so as to gather there all his goods. While he makes plans for a comfortable and carefree life, God reminds him that his soul may be demanded of him at any moment, and that storing up treasures only for oneself is futile when a person does not seek spiritual wealth.

This teaching calls us to watchfulness, to gratitude, and to the wise use of the gifts we have received, showing that true fulfilment does not come from accumulating possessions, but from a life lived in relationship with God and with our neighbour. The human being is called to be “rich toward God”, cultivating goodness, responsibility, and virtuous deeds.
